Naples is located on Southwest Florida’s Paradise Coast, south of Fort Myers in Collier County. Naples is best known for its remarkable beaches, world class shopping, and challenging golf courses. There are over 80 golf courses in the Naples area, resulting in its nick name The Golf Capitol of the World. As a product of its many cultural attractions, Naples has also been named “The top small art town in America” as well as voted “The best beach in America” by the Travel Channel in 2005. The area was once just a small fishing village, but that all changed when wealthy northern visitors came in the in the early 1900’s and realized the hidden treasures the area had to offer. Railroads were soon expanded to the city and the first road was completed in 1918, linking Naples to Fort Myers. That road is now called Tamiami Trail (or 41) and spans from Miami in the east, through Naples and up to Tampa. The city’s economy is largely based on its year round tourist population. Naples’ climate is subtropical with summer highs in the 90’s and lows in the 70’s. Summers are the area’s wet season, while the winters are typically dry.
