The Sebring, Lake Placid, and surrounding area is located in Highlands County, in south central Florida. Sebring is known as the “City on the Circle”. George Sebring, the city’s founder wanted the city to have a circular focal point where all roads lead to and from the center of the town. Regardless of modern development, the city’s unique circular infrastructure is still in use today. Agriculture, including citrus, cattle, and dairy products are the main contributors to the area’s economic stability. Highlands County is now the third largest producer in the state for growing citrus and once matured, are shipped through out the state and country. Sebring may be best known as the home to America’s oldest and most famous road racing track. The Sebring International Raceway hosts the infamous Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Endurance Race every March. People from all over the country make a trip to Sebring to attend a variety of races thro ughout the year. The city of Lake Placid is known as the Caladium Capital of the World and grows in over 1300 acres of the area. Annually the city holds a Caladium Festival, complete with arts and crafts, various food and entertainment vendors, and of course a wide array of colorful caladiums. The festival welcomes over thousands of visitors each year. The Sebring and Lake Placid area is also complete with more than 80 surrounding lakes, making bass fishing and water activities extremely prevalent. There are about 15 county parks in the area inclusive with boat ramps, camping sites, and trails for visitors walk and bike on. The area has an enjoyable climate year round, drawing in visitors and new residents. The summer highs reach the mid 90’s, while winter highs are pleasing in the low to mid 70’s.
