Vero Beach is located in Indian River County on Florida’s east coast, between Daytona Beach and Fort Lauderdale. The city is best known for its alluring beaches and as the home to the Los Angeles Dodgers during their spring training. The area is the smallest town in the country to have its own professional baseball team. Vero Beach is also known as the Gateway to Tropics due to it’s location in a transitional climate zone. Ancient Oak trees and Pine forests, although typically found in Carolinas, are amongst the mix of the palms and fruit trees commonly found in the tropics. The city was recently ranked number one as the “Best Small Town in Florida and 12th in the Nation” by America’s Guide to Small Towns. The city’s artistic attributes have also been recognized and the area has been named as one of the “top 10 art towns in the county.” Strict zoning codes have allowed Vero Beach to maintain a quiet and quaint residential and tourist community by deterring the development of high-rise hotels and commercial centers. The area’s climate is pleasant with an average summer temperature of 90 degrees. The average winter temperature is 74 degrees. The average annual amount of rainfall is 47 inches.
