August 28, 2015 By Mary Catchur

20 Hottest Housing Markets in 2015If they weren’t sure before the summer, real estate experts can all agree on one thing. The “housing crisis” and it’s huge effects on the real estate market are far behind us now, and the ripples that the big 2007-2009 meltdown exerted on market economics have finally subsided.

Since spring of 2015, real estate sales have climbed, especially in the nation’s hottest markets. So here’s a look at the hottest real estate markets right now.

20 Hottest Real Estate Markets

#1 Waco, Texas

The #1 spot on this list might surprise you, but Waco’s title as the hottest market in the U.S. wouldn’t surprise the Texas City’s locals. Waco fans enjoy a convenient geographic location, an affordable quality of life, and great universities that have boosted Waco’s desirability rating.

#2 New Orleans, Louisiana

Since Hurricane Katrina, the Big Easy has rebounded in a big way, and retaken its throne as one of the most vibrant artistic and cultural hubs in the country.

#3 Ann Arbor, Michigan

Just like Waco, Ann Arbor’s hot place on this list signifies America’s re-found romance with medium sized towns that provide big opportunities.

#4 Denver, Colorado

The Mile High city is one of America’s fastest growing major metropolises, besides a favored spot for vacationers.

#5 Santa Rosa, California

Who doesn’t love Wine Country? Santa Rosa is one of the most affordable cities in the Bay Area, and a huge destination for relocating families.

#6 Fort Wayne, Indiana

Another “wild card pick” in some eyes. One look at the crazy short sales in Fort Wayne proves beyond a doubt that it belongs here.

#7 Vallejo, California

Another medium sized Bay Area city with a lot of cheaper housing than some areas in the California Metropolis, Vallejo has a lot to offer prospective buyers.

#8 San Diego, California

Picturesque weather and a beautiful city make San Diego a perennial favorite destination, and housing markets reflect that desirability.

#9 Columbus, Ohio

The former “rust belt” is coming back in a big way, and Columbus has transformed itself from a crumbling industrial giant to a cultural center.

#10 Detroit, Michigan

Detroit’s tremendous and well-publicized fall as an industrial juggernaut hasn’t kept away young artists and professionals, who still see tremendous potential in the city.

#11 Manchester, New Hampshire

Long considered by locals to be New England’s best kept secret, Manchester has recently drawn legions of people searching for a new home in a community with a relatively low cost of living.

#12 Boston, Massachusetts

With its world-class universities and sporting teams, Boston has a lot to offer, which is reflected by its vitalized housing market.

#13 Austin, Texas

The mood in Austin is crazy and vibrant these days, which is attractive to young artists and others who are eager to settle in the beautiful state of Texas.

#14 Boulder, Colorado

Another hot Rocky Mountain destination, Boulder’s scenic beauty and relatively diverse economy have boosted its desirability.

#15 Springfield, Illinois

This historic city’s position as the state capital of Illinois has kept its economy bustling, which is drawing new residents who are seeking a city with rich attractions and great jobs.

#16 Charleston, West Virginia

Charleston is one of many cities proving that the South is undergoing an Urban Renaissance.

#17 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Like Columbus, Pittsburgh has successfully transformed itself from a former industrial power to a bustling modern cultural capital.

Beautiful scenery and weather in the midst of a city that’s culturally stimulating that has a thriving economy makes Tampa a city that regularly appears on lists of hot real estate markets.

#19 College Station, Texas

On the whole, Texas has seen sizable economic growth in the aftermath of the recession, and College Station is one of the cities leading the pack.

#20 Lansing, Michigan

A huge number of homes for sale in Lansing hasn’t hurt its hot market ratings, as a multitude of potential buyers are attracted to this city.

Refinancing with Mary an absolute pleasure

Refinancing with Mary has been an absolute pleasure. I have never been through the process before and she took the time to explain each step. She was prompt (had a rate locked in right away) and most importantly always answered the phone or emails almost immediately! The communication line alone made the refinancing process every bit worth it. Would recommend to anyone, and will be back for any future purchases! Bret Brennan, March 2021
